    Plastic Pipe Tracing

Being able to trace pipe locations is a very important part of what we do. Not only do we need to be able to understand where pipes run if we are finding leaks on them, we also regularly carry out utility mapping exercises for our customers. Plastic pipes require specialist techniques because they do not conduct an electrical signal the way metal pipes do.

    How we trace plastic pipes

    Acoustic Pipe Tracing

We have devices that introduce noise through the water inside a pipe. The noise can then be traced at surface level using specialist listening device. This method is very helpful for tracing plastic pipes.

    Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)

This works by sending radar pulses into the ground and monitoring the reflection from structures in the ground. This method is usually very effective for tracing larger diameter services and trench locations.
