Recognising the early signs

A swimming pool that needs topping up more often than usual is rarely evaporation. Pools lose water through failed liners, cracked shells, faulty fittings and leaking underground pipework — and each leaves a different signature. Spotting which one you're dealing with early saves both water and the cost of a bigger repair. This case shows how we traced a persistent loss to its exact source, non-destructively, and what the owner did to put it right.

What we found

Bucket testing confirmed the pool was losing water well beyond normal evaporation. Isolating the circuits showed the shell and liner held pressure, but the return line did not — the loss was underground, on the plant-room side.
